Exciting News!!

Benjamin is almost ready to come home!!!:):):):)

The doctor spoke to Gary and said about 2-3 weeks until Benjamin can come home. Right now we’re (actually I’m) in the midst of talking to different people about all the equipment that we need, applying for nursing hours, etc. We also need to be taught how to run the bi-pap machine as he is still going to be on nighttime bi-pap. Right now he has mostly been on the opti-flow during the day but when I talked to Todd (the nurse) today he told me that he had been on 1L O2 all day via nose-prongs!! Amazing!! So he is definitely getting there. He didn’t get moved to the TCU yet only because there is no room for him there but that is the plan as soon as a room becomes available. The doctor wants him to be off the opti-flow during the day and on nose prongs. He did great today but they also don’t want to push him too much as it could tire him out.

Right now it’s mostly just a lot of paperwork, setting up equipment & nursing, & teaching that needs to be done before Benjamin can come home. As well as Benjamin getting a little bit stronger and being able to be on nose prongs during the daytime for a few days without tiring out. It’s a little overwhelming thinking that he could be home in 3 weeks time but we are very excited. I’m a little nervous about taking him home but also know that the doctors wouldn’t send him home if he wasn’t ready.

I also know that hospital 2-3 weeks isn’t necessarily 2-3 weeks as it takes a while to set everything up. But to know that he is coming home soon is very exciting!! Please pray for patience for us as well as strength as we try to set everything up for Benjamin to come home. And pray that I won’t be too stressed out when he does come home.
