Surgery Over

Benjamin had his surgery today. It went very well. They put a camera into his brain to see if they could cut a hole from one ventricle to the other and they were able to. We went to see him tonight and he looked much better. He is still on the ventilator as he is on morphine and still a bit sleepy. He will probably be extubated tomorrow unless he decides in the middle of the night to try pull it out. His soft spot on his head actually feels soft again. It was quite tense. Yesterday they had to drain some of the fluid from his head as the pressure was building up too much.

Kyle is doing really well at home with mom & dad. We left him with a babysitter (Auntie Ali & Uncle Tim)for the first time tonight while we went to see Benjamin. That was a bit nervewracking. All you moms & dads will probably understand. But we didn't really have to worry because he was really good for Auntie Ali. Although he did want her to hold him most of the time. But that's what Aunties and Uncles are for- spoiling. Although, maybe Auntie Ali & Uncle Tim just wanted to hold Kyle:) Kyle is drinking lots and is wanting snacks as well. He changed his schedule today so I wasn't able to get a nap in since he decided to wake up right when I layed down. Oh well, sleeping is for when I'm retired, I guess.

Thanks for all your prayer and support. Talk to you later.

It's great to hear things went well for Benjamin, and that Kyle is getting used to home. Yes, it's hard to leave your tiny baby at home the first times, but Alice is so great with them. :)

Dear Gary & Greta,

Wow - another milestone! Kyle's home! It sounds like Benjamin's surgery went as well as could be expected and hopefully he'll soon be able to be home as well! It must be tough having the two little guys so many miles apart right now. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date even when you must be so busy and exhausted! Take care. In our prayers always...
