Sunday, March 18

First of all, Happy Birthday to Opa Jake Van Muyen! We like it when you come to visit us with Daddy.

Yesterday was a big step. I got to hold Kyle skin to skin. This is when I hold him against my bare chest. He responded amazingly. He was wide-awake and alert, looking up at me. He was also kicking against me. I got to hold him for about ½ hour and then he got too tired and started desatting so he had to go back in his isolette. As soon as the nurse put him in there, he zonked out. I also got to change his diaper and take his temperature.

Today I got to hold Benjamin for the first time!!!! Finally! I could have held him Tuesday and Wednesday but I still had the lingering effects of my cold so I had to say no. So today was extra special. I also got to do skin to skin with him. His oxygen levels were awesome. He fell asleep in my arms. It was so special.

Greta you look great! What an amazing experience to get to hold your boys skin to skin. That was one of my favorite things having a newborn. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Greta and Gary
You both look great, thanks for adding those pics in so some of us could see how well you two are doing.
Greta you look amazing!
The boys are beautiful, i read your blog everyday. They sound like they are going to be very strong and stubborn, which is so good during this whole ordeal, however, when they are 16, you will be pulling your hair out !!!! LOL
I think about your guys lots and hope that you stay strong.

Hi, this is Betty and Ollie's friend Stef again. First of all, it is really awesome how well your boys are doing! The fact that you could hold both of them in such a special way is amazing!

I also wanted to share with you the story of my sister, A-J, to encourage you. Just looking at her, a fully active 24 year old, working full time, living for her Lord and Savior and enjoying life to its fullest, no one would ever guess that she had a start to life very similar to you boys' start.

A-J was born two weeks more premature than your boys, and only wieghed about 1lb. 10 oz., not much more than them. The neonatal unit at Children's had only just opened up, and this was a 1/4 centry behind in medical advancements. If it weren't for just one nurse who heard a faint heartbeat, my sister, who is fully alive and well now, would have been considered a miscarage!

God kept my sister in His loving arms, however, a performed His great miracles, which helped A-J and my parents overcome many obsacles so that she could grow up and become the person she is today without any major disabilities whatsoever.

She is not the greatest at sports, but she still can do them and enjoy them if she wants to (although she prefers her books!). She got top marks in her class in college, and is now doing a computer job that I couldn't figure out if my life depended on it!

If God could perform His miracles 24 years ago, imagine what He can do now! Your boys seem to be real fighters, and they have the advantage of 24 years more research and medical advancement than my sister had. Those two little guys have already overcome alot, and I am sure that they will grow up to be wonderful people just like my sister!

Blessings and prayers for the 4 of you as you continue the journey with God's loving care.
