Last night we went to sleep at the hotel we are staying at since the nurse told us to go sleep since he was stable on the ECMO. We ended up phoning at 3:30am since I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep until I knew how he was doing.

This morning we went in to visit him and he opened his one eye for me just a slit:):) I was so happy to see that. He's been sucking on his ventilator when he is awake. But he is still kept heavily sedated, just not paralyzed. He has a hard time every time they suction him or move him and his saturations do go down but he has been recovering ok. He has a few clots in his ECMO line but they didn't seem too concerned. They are just keeping an eye on it that the clots don't get bigger. It is still hour by hour, minute by minute. Right now he seems to be stable. Well, as stable as he can be on ECMO.

I know first hand how scary it is to see your little one on ECMO. My son was on it for pneumonia that caused complete failure of his heart and lungs. That machine is so big and scary, I will never forget that. But there are good outcomes, my son is prood of that. This will give his body the rest it needs. Your Benjamin is in my prayers. I will keep you close to my heart in the coming days.

Although he is far from being out of the woods yet, its these little victories that we can rejoice and praise the Lord for! Keep leaning on the everlasting Comforter who can provide you with ALL things!

Grandma Langbroek asks me to type you a comment. She says she is praying for Gary and Greta and Benjamin. She has been read the 2 last blogspots and she says she likes to have them read to her. Grandma Langbroek is thinking about you and encouraged by him opening a slit of his eye this morning.

Dear Gary & Greta,

Sandra has kept our congregation posted regarding the condition of your precious Benjamin. Please be assured of our ongoing intercessory prayer for him and your family. We are praying that in a very real sense you may experience that God is your Refuge and Strength, and a very present help in trouble (Psa. 46:1)
