Benjamin is doing ok. They are tweaking the settings on the oscillating ventilator as his lungs seem to be slowly getting better. He is handling this very well. Right now they are taking out his femeral line as it has been in for 18 days and they don't want it to get infected. So they have to put a iv in his arm. He is back to full feeds and tolerating it. His kidneys seem to be functioning. They aren't working great but they are working. Right now we are feeling cautiously optimistic as he seems to be taking more baby steps forward.

So happy to hear about more baby steps! Hope and pray they continue. Does this mean his fever came down too? Hope so.
You're in our thoughts and prayers.

I have a 16 year old son at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. We are going through an almost identical experience. We're suffering from a lot of bleeding and they keep trying to get him off ecmo but he's not quite ready. If you like to talk my email is scelz@comcast.net.

Please don't post my email.

Best to you,
Jim

I just spent the last few hours reading the Care Pages and comments from when Ryan was sick one year ago. I was reminded again of how the prayers of God's people held us up during our difficult journey and I pray that you may also find comfort in knowing that there are many of God's people praying for all of you now too. It also put a smile on my face to see how often you commented on Ryan's page, and now here I am commenting on yours. We pray that you can continue in this journey living day by day, moment by moment, ALWAYS relying on God's strength and grace to carry you through as He did us. Praying that you may have a blessed Sunday.
