Monday, March 12

These past couple days have been really hard for me as I have a cold and am not allowed to see the boys. But I phoned this morning and both boys are stable.

Kyle was good for the whole night and didn’t have to be bagged again. They are hoping to start feedings again as he is off the Indocid for his PDA.

Benjamin’s oxygen had to be put up to 45% as he kept desatting. He is getting fed 5ml every 3 hours.

Desatting is when the oxygen saturation in their blood falls below a certain point (usually 76) for 10-20 seconds. They usually let them come up on their own or turn the oxygen up but sometimes they have to bag them. Bagging is when they take a little black bag and attach to their ventilator and pump the bag. It’s kind of like CPR but with a bag.

Dear Gary & Greta,

Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated via this blog. It is difficult for us to imagine what this must be like for you and we want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers every day. We pray God's blessing and strength on you and your precious little boys.

Love Robert & Sandra & family

Dear Gary & Greta,

We will be praying for your health and that you may see your boys again soon. Our prayers are with you daily. If fact, once we did have a lapse in the memory bank and forgot after dinner and within seconds of the 'Amen', Matthew clearly reminded us. We went back to the Lord in prayer before anyone left the table.
If there is anything at all that you need, please let us know.
Love the hunour in your updates. It's good to see that you are staying positive and getting to know your boys so intimately already.
May you continue to draw your strength from the Lord.

Love in Christ,
Jim & Debbie, Samantha, Rebecca, Matthew, Joshua, Natasha & Benjamin Luteyn

Dear Greta,

We will pray the Lord will heal you from this cold so that you will be near Kyle and Benjamin soon again. I'm sure they miss you terribly!
Thanks for explaining the "desatting" as it comes up quite often and we weren't sure what it meant.
We continue to pray that you will both be given strenth for each day.
Love,
Leanne, Steve, Leah and Samuel

Hey Sis,

Hope you get better soon so that you can spend time with your precious boys again.

It was so good to get together for Family Night on Saturday and laugh again!! Tee Hee Hee - forWARD, INTrePID, REEEsort, your ‘seam’ etc. – we crack me up – crazy Hansma girls :)

I look forward to reading your blog everyday. I am constantly amazed at how you & Gary are keeping it together as you go thru this ‘storm’. I am also so thankful to all of the people who are lifting you up to God in prayer and supporting you thru meals, housecleaning, driving, etc.

You are in our thoughts and prayers, always.

Love Glenn, Evelyn, Joshua & Levi

Greta,

I'm sorry you can't be seeing your boys right now. That's got to be pretty tough. Have you heard anything back about Benjamin's ultrasound?

I keep checking back here, and pray continually. The girls always want to ask questions and talk about the boys, and never forget to pray for them. Jeremy's the one who always remembers first: every meal she prays for them and then also proudly tells us she prayed for them. Ana says she misses them, which is her way of communicating she'd like to see them home and has trouble waiting. :)

It's so great to see all the love and support your family has when I read all these comments. God is good.

We keep praying for miracles.
Love Betty (and Ollie)

PS - Gary, only the first part really is exclusively for Greta, you're allowed to read the rest, too. ;)

Dear Gary & Greta,

I am praying for you and your boys, strength and God's peace for you both, and growth and healing for Kyle and Benjamin.

We've never met. I am Karen Vriezen's (Barton Insurance) mom and she sent this on so that I could see how you all are doing.

Best wishes,

Sonia Vriezen

Congratulations on your precious boys! We are praying for them and you guys through this difficult time. Thank you for setting up this blog so that we can see what is happening and keep up-to-date on their progress. We hope you are over your cold soon as that must be very difficult to not be near them. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Greta & Gary,

I just wanted to let you know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I was making a bit of a pest of myself, calling Alida for updates, so I would also like to thank you for the opportunity to check in...

Take care,
