Friday, March 16

First of all, Happy Birthday to Auntie Kathleen! We love your visits to us.

Benjamin is doing well today. He is much calmer than yesterday. He was crying a bit when I came but I was able to calm him down. He was sucking on a soother today, which he really liked. The nurse also brought both Benjamin & Kyle some hats and booties which they wore for pictures. It was so cute! Benjamin is not getting fed again as he is getting his 2nd dose of Indocid. They’re hoping this course will close his PDA- otherwise he may have to have surgery. The ultrasound results finally came back! It showed that his brain hemorrhage is slowly resolving. The ventricles are not getting blocked so that is a good sign. The doctor also told us that you can’t always tell the long-term effects until they are 2 years old sometimes.

Kyle was playing the yo-yo game again today. It was a little bit scary because he had to be bagged two times today while I was there. He holds his little chest so that the ventilator won’t work and this he desatts down to 25 (really bad!). I told him that he had to start behaving because Daddy is coming tonight to get him in trouble. He is going to stop feeding and get his 3rd round of Indocid. If this round doesn’t work he will have to go for surgery- it’s scary to think that but the doctor told me that it is just as risky as getting a c-section done so that makes me feel a little bit better.

Benjamin wearing his new hat & booties. They didn't
stay on long though because he didn't really like them.

Benjamin sucking his soother. It is a special kind that fits under his ventilator. He really loves it! Also cuddling up to his teddy, who is now wearing his hat. Thank you to Auntie Ali for the teddy. I love to snuggle with it.

Kyle with his new booties. He couldn't wear the hat as it doesn't fit over his IV.

Kyle's little lamb from Auntie Ali. He loves to snuggle with it or use it as a foot prop. Thank you Auntie Ali for washing it for me so I could use it in my isolette to snuggle with. I really like it!

Is it serious if Kyle desats himself? Does is hurt him when he does that?

Another question: when you say how much/how often they are fed, is that breastmilk then? Do they still get supplemented? Are they still on a 24 hour feeding tube?

Thanks, Greta. (Sorry if I've overwhelmed you with questions.)

Whether I'll be able to see my littlest nephews tomorrow is still up in the air.... I'm still hoping I'll be feeling well enough, but.... It's been a whole month! I really want to see them again.

Hi Gary and Greta,

We just got your blog site address yesterday so it was really nice to be able to go through your blogs since the boys' birth to now and see not the boys' struggles and growth, but also yours. Continue to trust and rest in God for all things, as He is the ultimate Giver and Sustainer of life, both physical and eternal.

Praying for you and your little ones.

In Christian love, Gerry and Joan and boys

Thank you again for the daily updates. The boys are looking SO good and the hats and booties seem to fit perfectly. We continue to pray that the Lord will uphold you in the weeks and months ahead - just as He has up to now. Kristiana says she can't wait to see the boys. Hugs and kisses from all of us.
